Nachdem Normans Blackouts in immer kürzeren Abständen kommen und ihn nahezu unberechenbar machen, sieht sich seine Mutter gezwungen, ihn ärztlich behandeln zu lassen. Doch das treibt einen tiefen Keil in das einst innige Mutter-Sohn-Verhältnis. Auch Sherriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) hat längst gemerkt, dass im Hause Bates so einiges unter der Oberfläche brodelt. Kann er Norma weiterhin beschützen, oder wird auch er ein Opfer von Normans Wahnvorstellungen?
